Correction Regarding Kim Curtis

It seems that Kim Curtis will not be leaving until after the Spring semester. We have corrected the original post.

However, we will look into the matter of Curtis teaching this Spring further and report back.

I would be most curious to discover if any students choose to take a class from this woman during her last semester at Duke. When I was at university, I always first relied on recommendations from fellow students before I took a class from a certain prof. And NO student would ever have recommended a prof who vindictively flunked two of her students simply because of a personal vendetta she had against them (not to mention flunking another one years earlier). In addition, the fact that Curtis is a sloppy and unprepared teacher hardly makes her enticing. Indeed, the fact that Curtis got her teaching position only because her husband forced Duke to hire her proves she has no skills on her own to deserve a position at Duke (or any other university).

Again, I would be incredibly interested as to whether Curtis has any students taking her class in her last semester at Duke.

There are currently 5 students enrolled in her class out of 30 spots. It is our mission to protect students from teachers such as Kim Curtis, and we are working on it. Stay tuned.

Carolyn on Kim Curtis: "not to mention flunking another one years earlier". Could someone provide more details?

Thanks for your response to my question on Kim Curtis's earlier misbehavior. Is there any chance you could get permission to post some details? The more documentation the better, even if it has not been tested in court. It will make it harder for Curtis to escape her past if there is available evidence of a pattern of misconduct going beyond the lacrosse hoax. Thanks.

Ethical Duke:

Any of us who have followed this case closely can appreciate your efforts to illuminate the many wrongs in the behavior of Duke Faculty and administration during this hoax.

That said, I also believe that you should refrain from making any comments in a public forum such as this Blog that attribute any statements such as " ...according to Tricia Dowd, Kyle's mother." from any party who has settled a suit with Duke or who might have a suit pending against Duke.

I do not know if you have a faculty advisor for your group, but I suspect such an advisor would agree with me.

Keep up the good fight but be aware of the rights and remedies of others.
